AUTHOR, SPEAKER, MENTOR

NORMA JOYCE DOUGHERTY

Girls are often raised to believe that external beauty is everything. Unfortunately, many feel they are not beautiful, which leads to depression, vulnerability, and suicide. I see this firsthand in my volunteer work with the abused and trafficked. They are overcome with the agony of not knowing who they are.

BEYOND THE CROWN is inspired by my book and the true events of my life. My innocence was stolen when I was very young and replaced with shame. But God's love was seeking me out long before I entered the pageant world. He replaced my shame with a radiant face.

It is my hope that by opening up my life for this film, every girl and woman will walk out of the theater knowing the brokenness of their past can be redeemed and that they discover the true beauty that lies within them. I believe faith can heal your spirit, fill your heart with meaning, and transform your pain into purpose.
